Wanna LAUGH OUT LOUD?!

It’s great that our school has a program that gives students the chance to go to Paris! It is a great way to not only see Paris, but to experience the culture as well. It sounds like it’s going to be a fun trip!!
Field Assignment Two
For the second field assignment I chose to write about the study abroad trips at Cal Poly Pomona. My focus was on the summer Paris trips. For exactly one month, beginning on July 1, a group of Cal Poly Pomona students will live in Paris and study the language. The trip will allow students to be fully submerged in the culture while experiencing the city.
Trip goers will attend operas, museums and other excursions. The French teacher at Cal Poly Pomona will lead the students through the month long trip. She has been leading the trip for the past five years and once lived in the beautiful city. Her expertise will allow students to gain the most they can from their travels.
Since I am one of the participants on this summer trip, I enjoyed researching for this field assignment and learning more about the trip and what I have to look forward to.
I kept my interviews exclusive to students. A lot of information on the trip can be found online and I thought hearing students opinions would allow for a different approach then just listing information that is easily obtainable.
This was my favorite of the two for the field assignments. Having a direct connection to what I was writing about kept me interested and wanting to get as much information as possible. Studying abroad is an experience that many students look into and want to be a part of. Unfortunately, not everyone commits to a trip and gets to attend. After researching how simple it is to be a part of such a trip, I would hope that everyone who wants to study abroad would do so. If my article were published, I would want it to give students the drive to go and study abroad, to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
For my second field assignment I decided to write a piece about bullying. I wanted an insight of how those that have been bullied overcame it and how it has helped them grow as a person.
I wanted some insight on someone who is experiencing bullying, and how they deal with it. For that I decided I would interview my younger brother, because I know that his case has been severe.
Interviewing my brother was heartbreaking, because his experience has not only injured him emotionally but he was almost injured physically. I was proud of my brother to open up and share his experience with me.
I also interviewed a friend whose experience was not as severe, but it did damage his self-esteem. He shared with me that he was always being teased about his height by the older and taller kids.
He told me that every day they would call him names like “shrimp” or they would tell him that he was never going to grow. My friend also told me that all the teasing would affect his self-esteem, but that as he grew older the teasing decreased.
To gain more of an insight on the subject of bullying, I interviewed a sociology major. She was able to provide me with some knowledge about the subject.
She told me that bullying is a subject that shouldn’t be taken lightly, and that it should be dealt with in the right way. She went on to tell me that bullying does take effects on children in the long run, and it affects their social skills.
In my research I read that victims of bullying will respond in different ways. I know that my friend’s response was growing to have a thicker skin, but my brother has responded in aggression.
My friend and my brother are lucky, because there have been cases where victims have sadly taken their lives. Bullying is a subject that should be taken seriously, because it can be damaging.
Patricia Galeas: This is My Time...of Confusion? -
Patti, I know you got this!! You don’t need to worry, because you will find a job. You are the most hard working and determined person I know. I’ve seen you work so hard this year, and I know that you will keep that hard working mentality not give up. I believe in you, and as long as you pray and keep working at it I know you will get there! Just remember that si se puede!! :)
Finished internship, check. Cap & gown, check. Graduation pictures, check check check! Looking for a job, that’s the longest check ever!
Yep, after 18 years, yes that’s right I said 18, I am finally done with school! It’s becoming real, and yet it’s surreal at the same time? Does that make…
It is almost the summer and I am antsy with the anticipation. There is so much I have planned to do. The summer calls for adventures and good times with friends. Some of my best memories come from the summer.
Most of my summer will be spent relaxing in my grandma’s pool. That means there will be a lot of pool parties and barbeques with friends. Of course, I will be going to the beach as well. It is always a must to make a beach trip during the summer.
I am looking forward to driving up to the Griffith Observatory to catch the amazing view of Hollywood. It is always the best to go up at night. A mission of mine for the summer is to hike up the Hollywood hills, and make it up to the Hollywood sign.
Another must for the summer is to go to all the theme parks in Southern California. The three parks I know that I am going to for sure are Knott’s, Universal Studios, and Disneyland.
Another theme park I would like to add to my list is Sea World. It has been a few years since I have last been, and I want to go back and see what is new.
There are a couple of exciting dates that I am looking forward to celebrating during the summer, my sister’s birthday and the birth of my cousin’s first child.
I am looking forward to celebrating both of these events, especially the birth of my cousin’s baby. I cannot wait to see her baby, because she is having a little boy. I am looking forward to spoiling the life out of him.
This summer is going to be full of excitement and fun, and I cannot wait for it all to happen.
Heart of Brittan[y] Ritzi: Diamond Bar City Council -
I would have to agree when you say that something controversial could have happened. Going into the meeting I was expecting for someone in the audience to express their feelings over an issue being discussed. Instead, everything on the agenda was approved with a snap of a finger, and no one had nothing to say about it.
Well, lets see, I totally failed because I was sitting outside starbucks on campus waiting for time to pass before heading to class when I looked at the clock and when I read 6:15 it hit me… THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING! I rushed over as fast as I could get there, and I literally walked in as Some…
This week’s assignment was to cover the Diamond Bar city council meeting. It was my first time covering a meeting or any type of meeting per, but it definitely was something to experience. I do have to admit that I was nervous, because I did not know if I would be able to get down all the information that I would need to write my story.
All those nerves went away as soon as I realized that I could use the voice recorder on my phone to record both the meeting and the interview with the mayor afterwards. We were also told that the meeting was streaming live on the city’s website so that we can also go back and watch the video.
The meeting flew by, because everything on the agenda was approved. The rest of the meeting consisted of the council members going over any updates of what they have been doing in other cities.
The meeting was then adjourned, and an interview with the mayor followed. The interview with the mayor went over the city’s budget and the new services Diamond Bar is looking forward to.
The mayor was happy to announce that the city of Diamond Bar was in a phase of moving forward. She was more than happy to answer all of our questions, and she had great responses to those questions.
After our interview with the mayor we were given a tour about how the cameras and audio works during the meeting. It was all informative and interesting. Covering the meeting wasn’t as nerve wrecking as I imagined it to be.
I was fortunate that I had my phone to help me out as well as the video of the meeting to fall back on. The meeting was interesting concerning everything that they went over.

I don’t find this to be weird at all, because everyone has their own little weird quirks. I can completely agree that cleaning your room is de-stressing. My room can be at it’s worst, but I get annoyed after it gets too messy. I’ll get anxious and start to clean up everything, and then I feel better because my room is clean again.
Hey followers! And people who read my blog because it comes up when you search for the CPPCOM317 tag.
So… I’m doing this today so that I don’t end up writing it tomorrow night at 11:45 p.m…. or wake up Saturday morning and realize I forgot to write my blog.
Hmmm… so this week has been kind of…
